SANTEE LAKES
A chain of seven small lakes
located in rolling hills of Santee. The park was opened to the public
as a recreational and campground area in 1961. The park is a fantastic
birding location and hosts a very successful Wood Duck nesting program.
Swallows, Great Tailed Grackels, Nutall's Woodpeckers, and Great Egrets
are just a few of the many birds that can be found here.
Directions:
Take Highway 52 east to Mast Blvd. Turn left off exit and continue
to Fanita Parkway, turn right. Then turn right on Carlton Oaks Drive,
the entrance will be on your right.
