Says Phoebe Sayornis saya
Like other Phoebes, this bird is an insect catcher and can be seen sitting on a low perch "wagging" its tail. These birds seem to be less abundant around Lake Murray as compared to its counterpart, the Black Phoebe.
Large brownish head with a pointy crown. Brown-gray upperparts, gray throat and breast. Rust colored belly and undertail coverts. Juveniles have rusty colored wing bars, adults have none. 5.75 to 6.5 inches in length.
Grasslands, backyards, and marshes.
4-5 white eggs with a 12-14 day incubation period. Fledging occurs 14-16 days after hatching. The nest is an open cup made from grass and wool, located in a sheltered, elevated, dry site on a ledge, rock wall, or building.
