Nashville Warbler

DescriptionDespite being named after Nashville Tennessee, the bird is only a migrant through that area. Nashville is where this species was first documented. The Nashville Warbler feeds almost exclusively on insects which it actively gleans from the ground or leaf tips.
General: 4 to 5 inches in length. No wing bars.
Adult Male: Gray head. Yellow throat, breast, and undertail coverts. White belly. Olive upperparts. White eye ring. Rust-colored crown patch, which is rarely visible. Thin, pointed black bill.
Adult Female: Similar to male, but duller overall and more olive in color.
Immature: Similar to female.
Open mixed forests and woodland edges.
Nesting4-5 white eggs with brown specks. The incubation period is 11-12 days. Fledging occurs 11 days after hatching. The nest is a cup made from grass, leaves, and roots, lined with pine needles and fine grass. The nest is built on the ground concealed at the base of a bush or a tussock of grass.
