Dusky-Capped Flycatcher

DescriptionSome Dusky-capped Flycatchers have been observed "sunning" themselves, face down, on the bare slope of an arroyo, or dry wash. This activity, which has also been observed in several other birds, including Common Ground Doves, is not yet understood.
Pale brown-olive upperparts. Pale gray throat and breast. Yellow belly. Pale wing bars and tertial edges. Brown tail with no rufous color. Thin, dark bill. 6.5 to 7 inches in length.
Scrub oak thickets and canyon growth. Range is restricted to SW New Mexico and SE Arizona. Others are strays.
Nesting4-5 creamy white eggs with fine marks. The eggs have a 14 day incubation period. Fledging occurs in 14? days. The nest is a natural or tree cavity.
